Academia -- the left's dictatorship

Right on point to a comment I made a couple days ago regarding the sad state of affairs on American college campuses is this column I found by Roger Kimball for the Wall Street Journal. Very powerful stuff.

I'm glad that you don't let either "side" rest easy on this issue. I think one of the most provocative books I've read on this subject was Bloom's "Closing of the American Mind." I read it my junior year, and I think he has since died, but it really made me open my eyes to what I was being taught. I think a lot of college kids enter college and mistake what they are taught for what is right, rather than simply different from what they have heard their whole life. I think I still conclude that there must be continuing dialogue (cliche word, I know) and continuing scrutiny of self along with scrutiny of others. In other words, I hesitate to conclude anything, even as I like reading everything.
