It's almost like a wall at the N.C./S.C. state line -- have to keep reminding myself that this is just what the models forecasted -- onset of precip at around midnight, give or take. Still, it's tough to see the snow on radar just 30 or so miles away -- and hear reports from Gaffney and Spartanburg.
0Z GFS actually came in wetter -- giving us .8 inches of precip -- it's highest total so far. And upstream radar still filling in over Alabama, so still hours upon hours of precip to go.
But, if you're like me, you want the snow NOW, darnit, NOW!
I'll be very anxious to hear observations from Gaffney/Blacksburg/Boiling Springs/Mooresboro/Earl and other areas south and west.
On toward midnight!

11:10 and it is snowing in Polkville!!!!!
finally snow in boiling springs!!!
How hard? Is it sticking?
Fine Flakes In Kings Mountain since about 9:30 off and on
It is coming down pretty good, but not sticking just yet.
It's falling in Lawndale - no accumulation yet, but it's SNOWING!! WOOHOO!!!! :)
very light flurry action around Challenger 3.
More little floating flurries here in Shelby -- ready for the real thing!
light flurries in south shelby. have increased some but still light
still goin in boiling springs but not quite hard enough to stick yet.... i love snow lol
Skip, you have been calling these changes before the weather guys. Channel 3 just said there could be a little bump in the snow because the models coming in are colder. Good job. You make it more fun with these blogs.
haha i agree to above bc they ALWAYS underestimate snow storms when they actually come and when they say it could be alot then we get nothin lol WAY TO GO SKIP lol
Thanks, snow blog, but I'll believe it when I'm making a snowball out of it!!!!!
My flurries are back and there are a little more of them -- radar may be trying to fill in, too and cross the state line.
I don't know. I've seen situations like this before and its been a dud. The air is still pretty dry and from what I see, it will be over before we get any snowfall. There is hope that maybe an upper level disturbance will form and bring us a good snowfall. If that doesn't happen I don't think we see any measuarble aount of snow. Just my opinion but I've see snow heartbreak many times over during my 41 years in Shelby.
Near Crest High - Light Flurries (not nearly enough stick), but temperature has dropped to 33 within the last 30 minutes or so.
Brittain Village( 6 or 7 miles from Crest ) 35 degrees and NOTHING !!!
I think the nay-sayers should go to bed! Those of us following Skip's blog are here because we're hopeful. Even if we're wrong, can you just let us enjoy the hope?
Not a nay sayer. I'd love to see snow as much as anyone but here in Shelby you have to be realistic. It takes a perfect scenario and I don't think this is it. The radar I just looked at has the heavier precip south of us and thats what we need to saturate the air.
Skip, we all get up tomm and nothing? You should at least buy us all drinks for getting our hopes up. lol.
Our automobiles are covered with a beautiful, white powder & the ground is quickly turning white in our little corner of Lawndale!! Nice size flakes continue to fall! WOOHOO!!! :)
my husband called from Gaffney and it is showing and laying on the grass that was around 11:40.It is still showing lightly at crest High school.
Lattimore report: Temp is 33.5, still have light flurries.....not laying yet, but the flakes are getting bigger.
Coming down like crazy up here by Burns Middle. I am like Paige the ground is covered. Please Lord let it snow and give us this beautiful gift from you!
Skip, why didn't you go into weather? Just curious?
snowing steadily/heavily in downtown Shelby
